Abstract

ABSTRACT

Education, as a fundamental pillar for the formation of a society and the development of a country, has presented a series of pigments and filters throughout history aligned with neoliberal, capitalist ideas, framing education as a training instrument for compensation to industrial, political, and economic progress; The fundamental objective of this essay is to address Latin American education with a critical and reflective view of Western education and the emancipation of education from the perspective of Southern pedagogies, it examines the events framed within both parallels, while simultaneously anchoring the school, the relationship between students and educators, and vice versa, this is achieved by adopting a critical yet reflective methodology on different historical events through a meticulous review of the work of Foucault, Freire, Mejía, and others, subsequently, the essay revisits the impact of education from all angles, critiques, reflections, and positions as the essence of Southern pedagogies in Latin American education, it identifies points of intersection between the policies and economies framed within globalization, industrialization, capitalism, and neoliberalism, from this perspective, it is argued that the parallel between Western education, understood by Freire as Banking Education, and Problem-Posing Education as the axis of emancipation, presents a gap between these two concepts, this gap highlights the domination inherent in capitalist or neoliberal policies and the homogenization of a Society, from the critique, seeks a transformation with identity, under the reality of a context and the emancipatory need from the pedagogies of the south, and how they have been gaining strength not only in Latin American contexts but have also attracted attention from the west as a liberating education.
