Imaginaries of light in The Sacred Night by Tahar Ben Jelloun

The general purpose of this paper is to analyze the imaginaries of light in Tahar Ben Jelloun's La noche sagrada. The specific objectives are: to understand paratextuality as a strategy to approach the reader to the textual and transtextual imaginaries of the work; to interpret its structural organization from the perspective of light and its symbolisms; to interpret some aesthetic strategies used to represent the imaginaries of Maghrebin Africa. In order to achieve our objectives, we carried out an analysis of the symbolism of the preface of the work and its chapters, which we interpreted from rhetorical, semantic and pragmatic points of view. It is concluded that the light imaginaries are constituted in structures of primary order to allow the game: "unveil-hide" and give existence to other structuring imaginaries such as spatial, clothing, gastronomic, historical, aesthetic. Tahar Ben Jelloun, starting from the motifs of Moroccan culture, proposes a new imagery in French-speaking literature.
