Abstract

This essay seeks to promote the benefits of wearable devices in the area of Physical Education in secondary schools in Colombia, highlighting their potential to combat sedentary lifestyles and promote healthy habits. Faced with alarming rates of inactivity among adolescents, especially girls, we propose integrating these technologies to design innovative and motivating motor activities that link sports and physical activity to health care. Among these activities, wearables emerge as a tool that allows for personalized learning by setting individual goals and continuously monitoring each student's progress, encouraging self-competition and the progressive improvement of their scores. Furthermore, they facilitate the inclusion of students with special needs through curricular adaptations in space, methodology, and content. The success of this integration depends on having adequate technological infrastructure, access to connectivity, and, above all, training teachers in digital skills to apply wearables pedagogically, all while respecting privacy and complying with data protection regulations through clear protocols and informed consent authorized by parents. In conclusion, the proposal recommends launching pilot educational projects that can be implemented in institutions with the necessary technological resources and trained teachers from diverse backgrounds. It also emphasizes the need for support from public policies that foster innovation and the establishment of networks of physical education teachers to lead the process.
