Abstract

 This scientific article examines the relationship between educational quality and school dropouts in official secondary and basic education institutions in Colombia. The study analyzes the incidence of factors such as infrastructure, educational resources, training of teaching staff and parental participation in their children's education in reducing school dropouts. The objective of the study is to analyze the relationship between educational quality and school dropout in official secondary and basic education institutions in Colombia, identifying the factors that influence students' decision to leave school. A qualitative study was carried out that included interviews with students, parents, teachers and directors of official schools in Colombia. Secondary information from educational quality evaluations and school dropout statistics was also used. The results showed that educational quality has a significant impact on school dropout, since students who perceive a low-quality education are more likely to drop out of school. In addition, factors such as lack of resources, inadequate teacher training and lack of student motivation were identified as causes of dropout. The study concludes that it is necessary to improve educational quality in official institutions in Colombia to reduce school dropouts. This includes implementing strategies to improve teacher training, access to educational resources, and promoting a motivating school environment. In addition, the importance of involving students and their families in strengthening educational quality is highlighted.
