The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education field has transformed the paradigm of language teaching. This scientific essay aims to reflect on the role of AI as a facilitating tool in the teaching and learning process of English as a foreign language at the secondary school level. To begin, the rise of emerging technologies and their impact on pedagogical processes are contextualized. Then, the essay analyzes how AI has become a tool intended to make learning engaging, adaptive, and facilitator in order to develop students' communicative competence. Likewise, the study also addresses the challenges of using AI, such as the lack of resources in educational institutions, the need for ongoing teacher training to overcome the digital divide between generations, and the risk of cognitive dependence. It concludes that, while AI optimizes the teaching and learning process, making it more efficient, it cannot replace the human element, as education is a holistic process.
