Abstract

In the field of contemporary teacher training, critical digital literacy is emerging as an essential component for addressing the pedagogical challenges of the 21st century. This paper reflects on the training practices that enable educators to develop a critical perspective on the use of digital technologies in educational contexts. This scientific essay, with a theoretical-critical orientation, is supported by qualitative empirical evidence support, aims to interpret, from a hermeneutic perspective, the role of contemporary critical digital literacy in teacher training, in order to highlight its ethical, pedagogical, and social implications in technology-mediated educational contexts. In a context marked by the expansion of information and communication technologies, there is a need to go beyond the instrumental approach to develop a critical understanding of the use, function, and social implications of digital tools in education. Based on the contributions of critical pedagogies and the thinking of Freire, Giroux, and Kellner, lines of action are outlined to train teachers capable of exercising reflective and transformative practice. The analysis is based on qualitative empirical evidence obtained through semi-structured interviews and document review, which allows us to highlight the perceptions of five teachers on the critical use of technologies in educational settings.
