The purpose of this essay was to analyse Tres lustros de no verte, by Igor Delgado Senior, from the perspective of a pact between time and memory to recover and retain what is longed for; the study of the story was based on the theoretical contributions of Paul Ricoeur with respect to his works: Tiempo y narración III (1996) and Lectura del tiempo pasado: Memoria y Olvido (1999). In addition, a brief approach to the memory shown from the intertext was elaborated, taking as a reference Genette in: Palimpsests (1989). The aforementioned theory and authors emerged as an alternative to contextualise affect and the need for evocation, to reconstruct, capture and describe human anguish and pleasures, visualised in fictional narrative spaces
