The study aimed to curricularly integrate computational thinking skills into the Natural Sciences curriculum for first-year secondary school students, with the purpose of strengthening conceptual understanding and promoting meaningful learning. The research was conducted at María Inmaculada Educational Institution, with a population of 85 students aged between 10 and 13 years, organized into a control group and an experimental group. Methodologically, the study adopted a quantitative approach, using a quasi-experimental and longitudinal design. Pretest and posttest assessments were applied to evaluate five computational thinking skills. In addition to regular classes, the experimental group worked with technology-mediated instructional guides, while the control group only completed the assessment instruments. The collected data were processed through statistical analyses, including tests of normality, homogeneity of variances, and the independent samples Student’s t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group compared to the control group, with notable gains in the “Expected” and “Superior” performance levels. Decomposition, debugging, and pattern recognition skills showed the greatest progress, confirming the effectiveness of the pedagogical intervention. It was concluded that the pedagogical use of computational thinking as a formative component in Natural Sciences promotes the development of higher-order cognitive competencies and strengthens complex problem-solving abilities. This approach constitutes an innovative and replicable strategy that transforms traditional science teaching by providing transferable tools that prepare students to meet the demands of the current educational context.
