This article aimed to analyze the meaning that general secondary education students attribute to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) regarding the emergence of knowledge in adverse contexts. The study identified ontological gaps concerning students' experiences within a system characterized by infrastructure deficits and a lack of digital competencies among teachers. Methodologically, the research was grounded in the post-positivist paradigm and a qualitative approach, employing phenomenological-hermeneutic method to unravel the subjective realities of educational stakeholders. Data collection involved in-depth interviews using a guide of generative questions, and the analysis followed standard qualitative research procedures. Preliminary findings revealed that technology should be more than just a resource; it must evolve into a common language where teacher knowledge merges with student curiosity to overcome the digital illiteracy that has hitherto persisted in secondary education settings
